Eligibility

All current faculty, students, and staff can download up to 5 copies of Office 365. The software is available for PCs, Macs, iOS, and Android devices.

Interested emeritus faculty and retired staff should send an email to cit@oberlin.edu to inquire about access.

When you leave Oberlin College for any reason, your Office 365 subscription through ends. The Office 365 applications enter a reduced-functionality mode, which means that you can view documents, but you cannot edit or create new documents. You can continue your Office 365 access by purchasing a subscription through Microsoft.

Office 365 for Mac or PC

Visit http://portal.office.com and enter your Oberlin email address and password. Be sure to enter your email address in the form "jdoe@oberlin.edu," not "jane.doe@oberlin.edu.”

Installing Office 365 on College-Issued Computers

Office 365 for Windows will conflict with older versions of Office that you may have installed on your college-issued computer. If you intend to install Office 365 on your office computer, you must uninstall your previous version first. If you're uncomfortable with this process, please contact the CIT Help Desk with assistance before installing Office 365.

Office 365 for iOS

Download and Authentication

To download for iOS, go to the App Store using your iPhone or iPad and browse for Microsoft Office Mobile (it's free). When you open the application, you'll be prompted to authenticate, at which time you should enter your Oberlin username and password.

Included Applications

Your ObieID and password will only work to authenticate Microsoft Office Mobile. It will not work with OneDrive, Lync, Remote Desktop or other Microsoft products available through the App Store.

Office 365 for Android

To download for Android, go to the Google Play using your device and browse for Microsoft Office Mobile (it's free). When you open the application, you'll be prompted to authenticate, at which time you should enter your Oberlin username and password.
