Transferring Old Mail Messages to OCMail
Because of the new, much higher quota allowance that OCMail offers, you may wish to move old mail messages from local folders up to the OCMail server so that you can access them from any computer. This process is fairly easy when using desktop mail client Thunderbird for both Macintosh and Windows.
Thunderbird for Windows
First, configure Thunderbird to access your new OCMail account using IMAP. Make sure that you do not delete your previously configured ObieMail account. Keeping both accounts active within Thunderbird allows you to move messages directly to the OCMail server easily.
Once you have both accounts configured, in your left-hand sidebar you should see Gmails permanent labels (All Mail, Drafts, Sent Mail, Spam, Starred and Trash), any labels you have set up within OCMail and below those, your old ObieMail account and Local Folders if you have them. To transfer these messages, simply drag the folder (ObieMail or local) containing messages you want on the OCMail server up to the appropriate label under your OCMail account. When you drag each folder, you should see "Copying Message" in the lower left-hand corner of the window in the status bar, indicating that the messages are being moved successfully.
Once you have dragged all of the folders up to the OCMail server, login to the OCMail web interface and check to make sure all of your messages have been moved correctly. After you have made certain that nothing got left behind during the transfer, you can remove your ObieMail account from within Thunderbird. Simply go to the Tools menu and select Account Settings. Highlight the old ObieMail account and click Remove Account.
Note: CIT has discovered a known issue in which messages being dragged up to the server in Thunderbird for Windows move correctly for the first 3-5 folders, and then fail to move (not displaying the "Copying Message" in the lower left-hand corner). Closing Thunderbird and reopening it will resolve the issue. For this reason, it is critical that you check the OCMail web interface for all of your messages prior to deleting any local folders or removing any accounts.
Thunderbird for Macintosh

If you have not previously used Thunderbird to access your messages, please refer to these instructions for setting up your ObieMail account with Thunderbird.

Highlight the old ObieMail account on the left hand side and click the minus button at the bottom of the column. Click OK.
Transferring Your Inbox
Most desktop mail clients will not allow you to drag and drop your Inbox directly to your new account. To work around this, select all message inside your inbox and drag them to the OCMail inbox instead of attempting to move the entire folder.
