Safe•Connect Installation Process and Warning Screenshots
Safe•Connect Policy Key Download
The first time you connect to the network you'll receive the following prompt. Read through the entire internet usage policy and then proceed to download the Policy Key. This small piece of software will need to be installed and running at all times so that your system can be continually monitored for compliance with basic standards (e.g., operating system updates up-to-date) and allow network access.
Once you begin the download process, you'll see the following screen. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of the Policy Key.
Safe•Connect Login and Authentication
If you already have the Safe•Connect Policy Key installed and running on your computer, simply login with your ObieID and password to authenticate.
Safe•Connect Anti-Virus Software Warnings
You'll receive the following warning message if you do not have an anti-virus program installed on your computer. If you are a member of the Oberlin College community and have an ObieID and password, please visit the CIT Downloads page, enter your ObieID and password and grab a copy of Sophos (Macintosh) or McAfee (Windows) for free! Four warnings will be issued every 24 hours, after which your computer will be quarantined and you will not receive network access.
You will receive the following message if anti-virus software is detected on your system but is not currently running. Turn on your anti-virus software to eliminate this message. Four warnings will be issued every 24 hours, after which your computer will be quarantined and you will not receive network access.
You'll receive the following message if you have anti-virus software installed but the virus definitions are out of date. Update your anti-virus software or call the CIT Help Desk for assistance to eliminate this message. Four warnings will be issued every 24 hours, after which your computer will be quarantined and you will not receive network access.
Safe•Connect File Sharing Warning Page
If Safe•Connect detects that you are running file sharing software, you will receive the following message.
