Installing Pharos Lab Printers on Macs

Installing the Popup Client

  1. Install the Pharos Popup application
  2. Download the file Popup.dmg.
  3. Double-click this file to create a new disk image in Finder. This disk contains the Popup installer, Popup.pkg .
  4. Double-click the installer to run it. You may have to authenticate yourself as an administrator. If so, click the lock icon and type in an administrator username and password.
  5. Select a destination volume (you will only be able to select the startup volume).
  6. Click <Install> (or <Upgrade>). The installer automatically installs the Popup application.
  7. Once the application is installed, it will open and ask you to enter in a server name. Enter pharos.oberlin.edu. All the numbers are correct, keep clicking next until it Finishes.

Installing Printers with the Lab Configuration Tool

  1. After installing Pharos Popup (see above), download the Lab Printer Configuration Tool.
  2. Double click the PrinterConf icon to launch it.
  3. Select the printers you would like to configure by clicking the check boxes next to each printer name in the main PrinterConf window.
  4. Click the "Configure Printers" button. PrinterConf will automatically configure the selected printers, then open a dialog window informing you that it is done.
  5. Click the "Quit" button of this dialog window to quit PrinterConf.
